2009 Retrospective

Nope, no podcast today. Brad and Wayne are still enjoying their end-of-the-year break, but they did want to wish a heartfelt "Happy New Year" to all their friends on The God Journey. All of us here pray this year will be full of new life and freedom as we all continue to grow in him and be increasingly transformed in his likeness.

Before we leave 2009 behind, however, we thought you might want enjoy a brief look back at the year that was.

"Knock! Knock!"
"Who's there?"
"Orange."
"Orange who?"
"Orange you glad we don't have a video podcast?"

Imagine having to look at these expressions while trying to listen to the podcast, or even for Brad and Wayne to keep his next thought clear. You can click here or on the picture above to get a better look, if you want one that is! (Most of these must have come from their podcast on health care!)

  1. It’s nice how unreligious you look. Thanks for working for grace and freedom.

  2. The photos gave me a good chuckle!

The montage reminds me of a Calvin and Hobbles cartoon where Calvin was making all kinds of facial expressions. Bill Watterson, the creator, wrote in the C & H 10th Anniversary book that the idea came from seeing himself in front of the mirror and grateful that he could do those expressions in the privacy of his own home.

Third row, left-most photo of Wayne: it’s my favorite. Looks very operatic! 🙂

  3. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.

Can’t wait to see Jesus…I just know he is fun and full of joy….these pictures are a reflection of our Savior….Happy New Year…my brothers in Christ….and Thank you sooooo much for living outside the box of religion…Jesus lived outside the box of religion and they crucified him…may God continue to bless you and your message in the new year!!!!

  4. I will listen to your podcasts with new meaning and wonderful visions in my mind whenever you make one of your “if you could see us” comments!

    Thanks for your sharing
Blessings on you both – and the brothers and sister on the God Journey He has for each and every one of us.

  5. that’s funny…i was thinking of Calvin and Hobbes too when i saw these photos….great minds think alike…hope your break was refreshing…and don’t be thinking that we all “need” to hear you guys every week…be free to take more breaks…we do listen to all of the podcasts, tho…just as a fun, wonderful way to begin our weekends…

sue (and probably dave too, but he isn’t here right now)

  6. Hi guys, a rockin’ new year to you, too!

I just wanted to drop you a line to say a wholehearted “NO!” – In
answer to your question “Orange you glad we don’t have video
    podcasts?”

Because I think it’s a shame. Without wanting to flatter you, or
sounding like tending toward idolizing you, (since that would utterly
defy the whole purpose of your message), I just happen to be convinced
that you guys are just about the hottest act God’s got going for Him
down here right now, and even though neither He nor you may be
impressed by numbers, I personally believe that a whole lot more folks
might benefit from what you’ve got to share.
I mean, folks who may not spend an awful lot of time reading or
listening to podcasts, but love wasting their time on Youtube…

Yet there’s not trace of your perrty faces on YT to be found…

Think about it! And trust me, there’s uglier dudes out there, including myself.

“Hide it under a bushel? – No! – I’m gonna let it shiiiiiine….”

(All it takes is setting up a little camera while you have your chats & let it run…)

Could you do this for the world, please?

  7. Maybe we could have a contest to see which one could come up with the best caption for these shots (or would that be in line with wasting time on YouTube?) Happy New Year everyone!

  8. Well, I see that both of you still have the little boy in you. This is a good thing (I think).

I never miss a podcast, but am glad you can take some time off. We don’t want you to burn out.

  9. P.S.: Oh, and by the way, that’s where you might find a lot more dialogue, too, with people who haven’t found God yet, which you said in the very first issue of your casts, that this was going to be one of your incentives and goals…
