A Path out of Legalism (#1007)
During Wayne and Sara's recent trip around the Rocky Mountains, they met many people in the cities they traveled through who have left or are considering leaving a worldwide, legalistic Christian sect. Recent revelations of child sexual abuse on the part of leadership caused many to reconsider the teachings and practices of the group. Now, many are seeking to move out of religious performance, motivated by fear and pursued by self-effort, to an affection-based relationship with God, where love provides the impetus for rest and transformation. Kyle wants to know what Wayne learned in these conversations and how he helps people process this stage of their journey.

Those are really powerful statements on “man versus beast.” Thank you for sharing that.
Am I allowed to post that quote on “man versus beast” on FB? I don’t know the author to give credit and of course I wouldn’t post it if that was not proper. It is such a powerful statement and I can’t get it out of my mind.
Posting any quotes from The God Journey is always appropriate. Here’s the quote if you need it:
From Amara:
“When it was man versus beast, man came together and won. Then it became man versus man, and the best in us has won. It must become man versus beast over again, for when beast devours man, humanity will perish. When the war is over and it’s time to count casualties, I pray that our children’s future and the world’s humanity are not among them. For when we come out of the rubble and the smoke clears from our judgment, will we be able to say our hands are clean and our souls are unashamed.”
Thank you
