What Does “Subscribe” Mean?


There are many ways to subscribe to The God Journey Podcast.

The easiest way is to use the podcasting software you use to listen to your podcasts. Each of these has a directory you can search to find The God Journey and click "subscribe" or "follow" to receive the latest episode, and the current feed which includes about six months of previous episodes.

There are direct links to The God Journey podcast listing on many popular podcast directories including Spotify, Amazon, etc. Please click on the service of your choosing on the Subscribe page and follow or subscribe there to begin receiving weekly episodes in that podcast application.

Or you can subscribe to the podcast through RSS. RSS is short for Really Simple Syndication. It's an XML file that can be read by special software or a web service you can use from your web browser. Put the address of our web feed into your reader, and it will display the latest podcast from The God Journey and download it automatically.

That means you can stay in touch with us without having to revisit the site periodically to check for new shows.

How do I use an RSS feed?

In general, the first thing you need is a news reader, or RSS can also be used in a podcast application. There are many different versions, some of which are accessed using a browser, and some of which are downloadable applications. All allow you to display and subscribe to the RSS feeds you want.

Once you have chosen a news reader, all you have to do is click on the RSS button or drag the URL of the RSS feed into your news reader or by cutting and pasting the same URL into a new feed in your news reader.

How do I directly subscribe to these RSS feeds on my phone?

Most people are listening to podcasts on a mobile device, and generally by simply subscribing to the main show feed in the podcast application's directory. In order to subscribe to one of the special feeds listed above, here are the simple steps for several popular devices and services:

Apple Podcasts:

  1. Tap the Library button.
  2. Tap Edit (•••) in the upper-right corner.
  3. Tap Add a Show by URL.
  4. Paste the URL into the Podcast URL field.
  5. Tap Follow.

Google Podcasts:

  1. Go to the Activity page in the app.
  2. Click Subscriptions from the menu on the top of the screen.
  3. Tap the three dots on the top right of the screen.
  4. Click Add by RSS Feed. Paste the URL and click Subscribe.

Pocket Casts

  1. Pocket Casts lets you paste a URL right into the Search field in its Discover view.
  2. Tap the Discover icon.
  3. In the Search field, paste the URL.
  4. Tap the Search button.
  5. Tap the podcast that appears.
  6. Tap Subscribe.


  1. Open the Downcast app on your preferred device.
  2. Tap “Add” in the bottom bar.
  3. Tap the option to “Add Podcast Manually”.
  4. In the “Feed” field, enter the subscription URL listed in the Audio Issues section of your account.
  5. Tap “Subscribe” in the top right corner.

Overcast (iOS):

  1. Click the “+” symbol in the upper-right hand corner.
  2. Click “Add URL” in the upper-right-hand corner.
  3. Paste in the podcast’s RSS feed.
